This week's story
A family of seven arrived Tuesday.
And you were already there.
When Amira* walked through our doors on Tuesday morning, her five children trailing behind her, she had two suitcases and a folder of paperwork. No winter coats. No groceries. No phone plan. Within 48 hours — because of subscribers and donors like you — they had all three, plus a warm apartment in Richardson and an ESL placement for the two school-age kids.
Amira made coffee for our case manager on Thursday. She said, "In my country I was a nurse. Here, I want to learn so I can be one again." We're already working on it.

Chef Hiba's lentil kofta — a recipe for spring
Hiba trained seven women this month to roll kofta the Afghan way: red lentils, cumin, a whisper of saffron. This week she sent us the recipe to share with you — "so your table tastes like ours." Serves 4, takes 30 minutes.
