Who Are We

DFWROS is a non-profit organization registered charity and is a tax-deductible charity. DFWROS has 4 board members, 1 treasurer, 1 secretary.

Our funding is dependent on donations by community members. 100% of all donations including all monies go towards refugees. No board members or volunteers are paid. Our goal is to have private fundraising (e.g. neighbors, friends, and communities) on a consistent basis and to encourage donors to sign up for recurring monthly donations.

What We Do

DFWROS was started to help refugees successfully adapt to their new society. DFWROS identified a gap in services currently available to refugees – MENTORING. We believe that to successfully adapt, refugee families MUST have access to a mentorship program as well as have their basic survival needs fulfilled. Our endeavor is to bridge the gap between refugees and social workers who cannot or do not follow through as guides and mentors.

Mentoring a family requires patient listening to their needs and concerns on a weekly basis. We help families with many things; simple and complicated that we take for granted such as: how to speak and communicate in English (e.g. ESL registration), how to gain access to skills, how to register children for school, how to use simple household appliances, how/where to store food, how to cross a road, how to get a library card, how to keep their apartment clean, how to maintain personal hygiene.

We’ve funded 120,00 charity projects for 20M people around the world.

One morning, when Gregor Samsa woke from troubled dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a horrible vermin. He lay on his armour-like back, and if he lifted his head a little he could see his brown belly.
