Our vision is to cultivate the growth, development, and self-sufficiency of refugee families within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

DFWROS was established to support and elevate refugee families in the DFW area by offering mentorship, tangible aid, educational opportunities, and facilitating access to essential resources.

Who We Are

DFWROS, a registered non-profit organization and tax-deductible charity, relies on the generosity of our community members for funding. A portion of donations sustains our operational activities. Our aim is to establish a consistent flow of private fundraising from neighbors, friends, and communities, while encouraging recurring monthly donations.

DFWROS was founded to facilitate the successful integration of refugees into their new communities. Recognizing a significant gap in available services—specifically, mentoring—we believe access to mentorship is essential for refugee families to thrive. Our mission is to bridge the divide between refugees and social services, offering ongoing guidance and support.

Mentoring involves weekly sessions dedicated to understanding the needs and concerns of refugee families. We assist with a wide range of tasks, from navigating English language acquisition and accessing educational resources to basic household management and personal hygiene. By providing practical assistance and emotional support, we empower refugees to build fulfilling lives in their new environment.

What We Do

DFWROS was started to help refugees successfully adapt to their new society. DFWROS identified a gap in services currently available to refugees – MENTORING. We believe that to successfully adapt, refugee families MUST have access to a mentorship program as well as have their basic survival needs fulfilled. Our endeavor is to bridge the gap between refugees and social workers who cannot or do not follow through as guides and mentors.

Mentoring a family requires patient listening to their needs and concerns on a weekly basis. We help families with many things; simple and complicated that we take for granted such as: how to speak and communicate in English (e.g. ESL registration), how to gain access to skills, how to register children for school, how to use simple household appliances, how/where to store food, how to cross a road, how to get a library card, how to keep their apartment clean, how to maintain personal hygiene.
